Busy, Busy, Busy!

Wow, what a week.
I made it through! I'm so proud of myself. Last week I was sick as a dog so I missed the whole show and I stayed home. This week I came back and two other people in my class were sick. So I was chucked into a situation that I wasn't scheduled for. I came up with most of the story ideas for both the news and sports anchors. I handed off the sports story to another student. I was responsible for about 11 stories (some just script, some clips and some had visuals) Also I am responsible for a report.
So for the weekend I was out and about shooting different stories. On Monday I started writing story scripts and went out for more shooting. We went over to my report shoot which lasted an hour and a half! It was about a retired police officer. Another student and I went to his apartment and I interviewed him and looked through some of his old newspaper clippings etc. So that was my Monday. Tuesday was crazy, very busy and lots of commotion at school. I think this week was very stressful week for some of my fellow students.
I'm proud of how I handled the week. While everyone around me was upset, and stressed out I kept my composure. I may have been a little behind with editing and scripts but by the deadline of our live to tape show I had all of my responsibilities done. That’s when it’s my time to sit in the anchor chair and read the show. I didn't feel my read for the show was as strong as the last time I anchored but under the stress this week has put on everyone I think the show looked pretty good.
Now to my delight we have a whole week off and then the week we return I am in radio news. My favorite! I love the fast pace, radio news world. Writing my own stories and then delivering them to the world!
That was my week, hope yours was exciting too.
Until next time,
